A violent mugger is being hunted by police after two women were attacked in Chesterfield ? one needing hospital treatment after being repeatedly punched in the face.
The attacks happened on December 28 in Newbold Moor with the first involving a 74-year-old woman at around 1.30pm.
LED Flexible Strip Ribbon Series Ribbon 3528She was walking along St Helen's Close when a man came running up behind her and snatched her handbag from her grasp.
The mugger, who the victim had seen hanging around on Nightingale Close, ran off towards Sheffield Road.
The pensioner was not hurt in the attack but was left upset and shocked.
She described the offender as around 20-years-old, white, 5ft 3ins tall, and wearing a black hat and dark clothing.
The second incident involved a 24-year-old woman who was attacked when walking along Spencer Street at around 4.30pm.
She was confronted by 24in. t5 tube light led a man who pushed her and punched her several times in the face before trying to grab her bag.
Failing to prise it from her, the attacker ran away and the woman was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for treatment to facial injuries.
She described her attacker as being white, 5ft 8ins tall with short dark brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and trousers.
Police believe the two crimes could be linked because of their similar nature and close proximity to one another.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses to both incidents and want to warn people in that area to be on their guard."
